ROD AND GUN CLUB’S ACTIVITIES

From Our Own Correspondent TAUMARUNUI, Thursday.

Gratification at the c ontinued help it was receiving from its parent body, the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, was freely expressed at the annual meeting of the Taumarunui Rod and Gun Club. The president, Mr. J Brown, was in the chair, and there was a good attendance of members.

Officers tor the next term were elected: President, Mr. J. Brown; vice--presidents, Messrs. A. G. Riches, K Prussing, A. Saddler, R. F. Harris and A. J. Richards; secretary, Mr. G. Hickton; executive, Messrs. A. J. Richards, A. J. Arthur, R. Rice, F. E. Cox. M. Cox, T. Gilpin, C. Hartnett, A. ->• Riches, R. F. Harris, R. Randell; treasurer. Mr. R. F. Harris: auditor, Mr. R. Cai tch eon; delegate to the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, MfR- F. Harris. The annual report showed that tb® club had 87 members, and would star* the new year with a strong credit balance. The policy of developing tno fish in holding ponds had been P roV to be in the interests of sport, and fishing was improving all round. Other interesting items mentioned were that the Indian Chukor partridges appeared to have acclimatised successfully in the Taringamotu Valley, and that the Brown Australian quail were rapidly increasing and with Californian quail were providing fine sport.
