Championship Leaders Meet

TOMORROW'S SUBURBAN CRICKET Green Lane and Albion TIIE crucial test for the three teams battling for the Suburban cricket championship, will commence tomorrow 11 ; with the last of the competition series, at the Domain. Green Lane tops the ladder one point and two points ahead of Albion and Harbour Board, respectively. Tomorrow’s n | games will probably decide the finalists, for the premiership.

i The meeting between Green Lane J i and Albion will, no doubt, command J most attention, as only a point sep- : j orates them. The competition leader’s i | hatting performances, particularly in ! | i he second round, have shown decided i i weakness from a team standpoint: and , j it has generally had to rely on its j • -skipper. Eric Watts, and one of his j brothers to save a collapse. T. Clark i | is a good, stylish batsman of much j promise, but is a very erratic per- j ormer. Green Lane’s strength un- ! ; doubtedly lies in its bowlers, of whom j ; Seccombe and Scarborough are tire j j most outstanding, and the burden will ! probably fall upon them in tomor- j row’s match. Albion’s consistent improvement, both in batting and bowling during the second round makes a strong claimant for the championship. In the veteran. It. Stallworthy, and his son. the new team has both batting and bowling strength, while other sound batsmen are Viscoe and Gedye, the latter now showing glimpses of his old form The contest is expected to resolve into a r attle between Albion’s batsmen and Green Lane’s bowlers. Last season’s champions* Harbour Board, the third team in the running for the premiership, will meet its feared opponent, Ponsanby. Ponies seem to have exercised a strange hoodoo over Harbour Board, and speculation is rife on the outcome of the next meeting. Harbour Board’s batting performances lately have strengthened its chances,

and with sound men like Breese, Dunning and Matthews, all playing well, its prospects seem bright. The Ellerslie-W.Y.M.I. game will have no bearing on the competition beyond final positions on the ladder. Teams are as under: Senior A Grade Ellerslie. —Burton (2), Watkins (21, Baxter.
