REBELLION TALK
SPAIN UPSET BY NEW INTRIGUE PLOT FOR DICTATORSHIP United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. 10 a.m. LONDON, Wed. The '‘Daily News” Madrid correspondent reports that a new Spanish crisis is arising on account of General Barrera’s refusal to quit his post as Captain-General at Barcelona, from which he was dismissed by the present Government for plotting with General Martinez Anido to establish a dictatorship. General Barrera is believed to have secured the support of the majority of the Barcelona officers. The Government, without waiting the King’s signature, appointed Prince Carlos of Bourbon, the King’s brother-in-law to succeed General Barrera. The Prince went to Barcelona last night.
There is talk of open rebellion on account of the Government’s action.
