INDIA RESISTING

WOMEN TO BOYCOTT FOREIGN GOODS GANDHI’S MARCH FAILS United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright Reed. 10.20 a.m. DELHI, Wednesday. The town of Gujranwala, which was the scene of fierce rioting in the revolutionary outbreak of 1919. has been chosen by the Punjab Nationalists as the centre for a start of the provincial civil independence campaign. Detachments of Nationalist volunteers from Lahore will, on April 6, hoist the Indian National flag over the T<uwn Hall, in defiance of Government orders. Thirty-four Congress workers were arrested in the United Provinces for carrying our propaganda work in connection with Gandhi's campaign. A movement is being started among Indian women to boycott foreign yarn and cloth. It is understood Gandhi is die appointed at the results of his march to the seacoast. He received little hospitality or support from the villagers in the Broach district, and a large number of village headmen who resigned under pressure from Gandhi have now applied to the Gov eminent for reinstatement. This has caused bitterness among his followers, whose morale is already suffering by reason of the fact that nearly 30 of the number have fallen cut owing to sickness. It is considered in Government quarters that if the authorities combine with firmness and patience, Gandhi’s campaign will prove a complete fiasco.
