River Board, which he has held for the last i three years, was made by Mr. L. R. W. ' Reid, of Te Hoe, at the meeting of I the board today. I Air. Reid stated that he had resolved j to resign, as he had not fully recovered • his health, but might, if requested. - ; cept nomination later. • A resolution was carried expressing J hearty appreciation of Air. Reid’s ser- | vices, especially in connection with the j big swamp amalgamation scheme. Ali. J. G. Harvey was appointed acting- : > chairman. It was decided to write f o the Alini-*-ter of Internal Affairs asking that provision be made in the Land Drainage .and River Protection Bill to allow a , j referendum to be taken on the question ■ whether rates should be levied on the j acreage basis or on the unimproved or ? capital value basis. I The clerk was authorised to circxi- . I late river and drainage boards in . the Auckland Province seeking their support.
