There was a hot finish to the Tamatete Handicap, tour horses going over the line locked together. Kuanui and Pahu made the early running ana they were still clear along the back. Approaching the turn the field ounened, this pair being in the van from The Swell, Balloon, {Shrewd, Dolomite and Merry Damon. Nearing tiie judge, Pahu held a slight advantage ami no maintained this to the finish, winning by half a length from Merry Damon, with The Swcil and Shrewd all separated by heads.
