A pilot and two passengers were burned to death when an airplane owned by Wallace Beery, the movie actor, went into a tail-spin 500 ft. above Alhambra, a suburb near Los Angeles and crashed into a field with a terrific impact, and burst into flames. Beery’s pilot, the Pilot’s wife and another airplane pilot friend were in the machine, which was a cabin biplane. The actor was not aboard. A sputtering motor caused the plane I to lose altitude. I

Motorists who rushed to the scene when the machine struck could see the bodies behind a wall of flame, but rescue was impossible. BOMBER’S NIGHT CRASH TWO R.A.F. MEN KILLED Reed. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. A Vickers Virginia bomber, while landing after a night flight, crashed at Wo'rthydown. Flying-Officer E. R. White and PilotOfficer P. J. Pratt were killed, Squad-ron-Leader A. S. Allerton was dangerously injured and two aircraftsmen were slightly injured.
