THE OTAGO CLUB MEETS On Saturday evening the newlyformed Otago Club held its first meeting in the concert chamber of the Waikato Show Buildings. Belladonna lillies and masses of hydrangeas made attractive decorations. Mrs. P. W. Platts, the hostess, was wearing a frock of peach pink georgette. Among those present were: Mrs. W. Eraser, Mrs. A. McMullin. * FAREWELL PARTY On Monday evening a very delightful party was given at the Lyceum Club by Miss Ngaire Jackson, for Miss Nell Pittar, who leaves on Monday for Napier. The bridge room and the lounge were artistically decorated with dahlias shading from gold to deep crimson, and autumn leaves. The guest of honour’s ankle-length j frock was of Chinese red georgette and j lace, with smart bridge coat to match, j Miss Jackson wore frock of almond j green organdie. The guests played progressive bridge i in the card room, prize winners being ! Miss Erena Ward, Miss Trix Monckton and Miss Cecille Chitty. Supper was { enjoyed in the lounge before a big log t fire. Among the guests were: Miss Pittar, Mrs. R. jD. McFarland, j Mrs. A. Matthews, Miss L. Valder, Miss N. Valder, Miss B. Vickery, Miss R. Vick- , cry, Miss P. Yule, Miss A. Bell, Miss V. Watts, -Miss P. Hall. Miss E. Ward. Miss D. Clark, Miss K. Oliver, Miss K. Wilson, Miss I. Taylor, Miss B. Taylor, Miss I . Watts, Miss C. Chitty and Miss B. Manning. ORANGE PUDDING Place 3oz of castor sugar In a i basin. Thoroughly cleanse, and grate the rind of two oranges into the sugar, j Mix until blended. Add Jib of suet, j chopped finely, and ilb of bread- j crumbs, 2oz of flour, 1 teaspoonful of ! baking powder, and half a teasnoonful j of salt. Mix well. Strain in the juice j of one large or two small oranges, a I beaten egg, and a small quantity of j milk. Steam in a greased mould for | two and a-half hours, and serve with an orange-flavoured sweet sauce.
