GOLDEN WEDDING

MR. AND MRS. T. HORTON Mr. and Mrs. T. Horton, of Glenfield Road, Birkenhead, celebrated their golden wedding on Monday. They were married at the Auckland Registry Office on March 24, 1880. Mr. Horton came to New Zealand in the sailing ship Maravail, landing in Auckland. Since his arrival he has never been out of the Auckland Province. For a number of years he was in charge of a cattle run in the Bay of Plenty and also worked in Mercury Bay and in the Waikato, when© he farmed for 10 years. Coming to Birkenhead, he carried the mails from Birkenhead to Dairy Flat on horseback, and then went in for fruitgrowing and farming, an occupation on which he is engaged at the present time. Both Mr. and Mrs. Horton enjoy good health. There are two sons and one daughter of the marriage, and there are 13 grandchildren.
