DREAM WEAVING

WHAT a dull world it would be if we could not indulge in dream weaving once in a wliile. Fanciful speculating and peering behind clouds for glimpses of sun—these are the things that add colour to life aud give us our rose-tinted spectacles. Such thoughts occur to Redfeather when a poetry competition is in the air. “The Weaver of Dreams,” which has won first place, was suggested by its little author’s Wigwam pen-name. Dream Weaver, who is only eleven years of age, is a Post Guide and, during a long convalescence from an illness of early childhood, she had devoted herself to a study of literature and to writing poetry This dainty lyric might have come from a much older pen. ‘Readers of the Happy Town page, in which her first poem appeared, are now quite familiar with the lilting verses of this talented little writer. Harvest Moon, too, has been “dream weaving. Her poem, “Thoughts,” shows a rare insight into the mind of another. is also responsible for a poeon in defence of town balloons like coloured hubbies in a doorway” compensating for the greyness that other eyes too frequently see. A poem in blank verse, by Flying Beetle, showed promise and, under the title of “Extract,” two verses are published. A story competition is now in progress, and Guide companies and Scout troops are reminded of the closing date for the appointot ,ha 1980 “ Crib ”' REDFEATHER.
