EMPRESS, NEWTON
“A ‘Woman of Affairs,” an outstantb ing screen drama which is having its first showing in Auckland, continues to be screened at the popular Empress Theatre, Newton. The cast of this fine film comprises three major stars in John Gilbert, Greta Garbo and Lewis Stone, also a large number of supporting players. , A programme of selected talkie supports will also be presented.
Reginald Denny’s skill as an archer —he once went hunting mountain lions with only* a bow and arrows—came in handy during the filming of “One Hysterical Night.” In one scene It was necessary for an archer to shoot at an apple, a la William Tell. Denny showed an amateur archer what to do and how, with the result that no one came to grief. Denny is the star of the picture, which is a Universal alltalking comedy*.
