There was a good gathering of members of the local branch of the Church of England Men’s Society at the Cathedral on Sunday afternoon, when Archdeacon Mac Murray, of Auckland, gave an interesting address on his impressions of his recent visit to Jerusalem. The service was conducted by Dean Barnett. Over 250 members of the Waikato Mourned Rifles under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel C. R. Spragg went into camp for a week’s training at Hopuhopu yesterday. A “casual” camp : for the Xotrhern Command is also in | session there. About £3OO was collected as a rei suit of 4ast week’s free fair on the Ferry Bank in aid of the Beautifying i Society. This is regarded as highly | satisfactory and will enable the society to indemnify its indebtedness to the Borough Council.
