ONEHUNGA COMPLAINT The Onehunga Sand Company lodged fl. complaint last evening to the Onehunga Borough Council. It appears that a practice has grown up among swimmers to board the many sandmints which are moored just off the beach at the foot of Norman’s Hill, and proceed to throw overboard everything moveable, including sand, timber and even wheelbarrows. One of the culprits. Claude McKenzie. aged 10, was charged yesterday with this offence at the Onehunga Police Court, when Sergeant D. J. O'Neill told the Bench that accused was everlastingly in t. . üble and seemed unable to keep out of mi-chief. He already had a list of convictions, and wds now on probation. The magistrate, Mr. F. TI. Levien. told McKenzie that according to hw past record he was gradually working up to that stage when he would be sent to Invercargill for detention. He was fined 20s and costs, and ordered to make restitution of the value of the property thrown overboard. In discussing the position, the Borough Council appointed a sub-com-mittee to confer with the harbour authorities on the advisability, suggested by Cr. S. Vella, of mooring the barges further away from the bathing urea.
