The fixture was held on the East j Tamaki Recreation grotnld, which was j in g nd some k< ested The star event in the athletic section of the programme. the East Tamaki j Handicap, was won by A. Dawson, a j member of the Papatoctoe club. It carries a handsame cup valued at £5. The most consistent performer on the day was A. Bellingham, a local runner, who won the half-mile handicap, for the handicap of 120 yards, tied for first place in the high jump, and was second in the hop, stt-p and jump. R. Callinan also performed well, he won the hop, step and jump, was second in the 120 yards hurdles, and tied for second place in the high jump. The cycling was confined to one event. On account of the disqualification of the members of the Alanukau Amateur Cycling Club, only tlie local race was staged. This was won by G. Jones, who timed his finish well. In the hunting events, some splendid exhibitions of horsemanship were given. The blue riband of the day in this section, the Open Hunters’ Competition for cup valued at £lO and £5 prize money, was won by Miss Phyl. Weston’s Bluelight, which gave a faultless exhibition. This hunter also won the cleverest hunter class, and was placed second in the best lady's hunter. The judging was carried out by Mr. Alex. Swaffield. Details of events are:— ATHLETIC EVENTS.
