CRUMP WINS AGAIN
LONG SWIM ON KAIPARA RIVER CARNIVAL AT HELENSVILLE The 13-vear-old North Shore swimmer, Noel Crump, who recently won the harbour race for the Morgan Cup, gained an excellent win on Saturday afternoon in the half-mile race held annually by the Uelensville Swimming Club on the Kaipara River. Fourteen of the IS entrants were Aucklanders. R. Porteous. of Mount Eden, who was second, gained fastest time in llmin 33sec. Crump was next fastest with 12min 5-lsec. The result N. The limit swimmers, Strong (of Uelensville) and Miss Gladys Pidgeon CWaitemata), both off ISOsec, had covered more than 200 yards when Porteous began. Moore led Crump at the quarter-mile. Porteous made a great effort to overtake Crump, and just caught Moore on the last few yards.
