FOUNDING OF OTAGO CELEBRATED . FIRST MEETING OF YEAR , On Saturday evening the Dunedin Club celebrated the 82nd anniversary of the founding of Otago at its first meeting of the year held at the Jewish Clubrooms in Wyndham Street. The hostesses were Mrs. H. F, Wright, who wore cinnamon georgette, and Mrs. W. H. Faulkner, frocked in powder blue pleated crepe de chine. The visitors to Auckland who were entertained were Captain J. D. Hewett, who recently made a non-stop solo flight from Dunedin, and the members of the Otago provincial rowing team, - who were in Auckland to compete for the Hallyburton-Johnstoue Cup. Mr. J. Gow, the president, congratulated them on their respective achievements. Mr. J. Wilson, manager of the rowing team, responded ou behalf of his party and thanked the* members for their kind welcome. The guests were entertained with dancing and bridge interspersed with, musical items. Piano solos were given by Mrs. Reid and violin solos by Miss Ida Lockwood.
