BLAZE AT PAPATOETOE

HOUSE TOTALLY DESTROYED NO WATER SUPPLY From Our Own Correspondent PAPATOETOE, Today. A six-roomed wooden house in Allenby Road, Papatoetoe, owned by the Manukau County Council, and occupied by Mr. E. Bartlett, was totally destroyed by fire shortly before seven o’clock yesterday morning. Mr. Bartlett was the only occupant at the time of the outbreak. After making a cup of tea he went out to feed the fowls and while doing so saw smoke coming from the house. He immediately notified the Papatoetoe Fire Brigade, which was on the scene within a couple of minutes, but the house was then blazing fiercely. The area is outside the Papatoetoe town district, and is not reticulated with the water supply. Nothing was saved. The furniture was insured ir the Australian Provident Assurance Company for £l5O, while the insurance on the house is not yet available.
