WELLINGTON CARILLON
TO BE PLAYED BY FAMOUS PLAYER COMING FROM ENGLAND Press Association WELLINGTON, Sunday. During the recent visit of Mr. Barrow Cadbury to New Zealand, opportunity was taken to approach him witli reference to securing the services of Mr. Clifford Ball, England’s premier carillonneur, for the opening recitals in Wellington of Wellington’s war memorial carillon. Word has now been received by cable- that the proposal has been agreed to. and Messrs. Cadbury Brothers, Ltd., have offered the services of Mr. Ball at what practically amounts to no cost to New Zealand Mr. Ball’s salary and travelling expenses are being provided by the firm. Mr. Ball is the official carillonneur for the Bournville carillon, and Cadbury s frequently made his services available for playing the Wellington carillon at the Xewcastle-on-Tyne exhibition. Tie also played the carillon at the recent recitals in Hyde Park. London. It is estimated the official opening of the carillon at Wellington will be between next November and February.
