OTAGO TAKES HOME CUP.—By a comfortable four lengths, Otago won the third annual race for the inter-provincial eight-oar championship, on the Whau, on Saturday. It was the first time that the contest, which was for the Hallyburton Johnstone Cup, had been rowed in Auckland. A great struggle between Auckland and Marlborough resulted in the latter gaining second place by half a length.
