THAMES TOPICS.
From Our Own Corresposdejit THAMES, Sunday. The Maori Land Board has notified the Tapu Memorial. Park Committee that it approves of the sale of five acres of land at Tapu from the natives. The cost of the land is £470. It took £SO in expenses to obtain the Maori owners’ signatures. The High School Cadets, under Lieut. Innis, of Paeroa, are* encamped on the schol grounds. About 100 boys are under canvas. In future, boat owners will not be allowed to tie their launches to the Tairua wharf. The authorities have issued a notice to that effect. The banking fraternity and the lawcourt officials played their annual cricket match on Saturday. The law won by three runs on the first innings. The bankers made 81, and law 84. An Auckland cricket team will play a series of matches at Thames during Easter. Visitors to the Thames coast will appreciate the fact that two dressingsheds have been erected on the Tapu beach. There is every prospect of the Thames High School jubilee, which is being held during Easter week, being a very popular function. Numerous replies have been received from expupils, now resident in Auckland, informing the committee that they will be present. All arrangements have been finalised.
