HAMILTON TOPICS

From. Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Friday. A swift trip, lasting only 50 minutes, from Hamilton to Te Kuiti and back was made by Dr. M. M. Hockin, medical superintendent of the Waikato Hospital, in a Gipsy Moth plane piloted by Major G. A.. C. Cowper on Wednesday. The doctor had urgent business at the Te Kuiti Hospital. The following are the principal officers elected at the annual meeting oj the Technical Old Boys’ Rugby Football Club on Thursday evening: Patron, Mr. W. Fraser; president, Mr. F. Jones; secretary, Mr. J. Adams; assistant secretary. Mr. C. Boswell;| treasurer, Mr. R. Peters: delegate tb management committee. Mr. E. J. L, Whiting; club captain, Mr. A. Roberts, Over 1,500 children, representing schools throughout the South Auckland district, congregated at Rugby Park today for the annual sports meeting of the South Auckland Public Schools Amateur Athletic Association. The entries constituted a record, showing a 50 per cent, increase on last year. Competition was keen and some good performances were registered. Good crowds have been patronising the fair in aid of the Beautifying Society, which opened a three days’' season at the Ferry Bank yesterday. There are numerous attractions and there is every prospect of the society’s debt of £3OO to the Borough Council being liquidated.
