FOOTBALL MEETINGS
VARSITY RUGBY CLUB NEW RULES ADOPTED The annual general meeting of the Auckland University Football Club was held at the University College on Thursday evening, the president, Professor R. M. Algie, presiding. The following officers were elected: President, Professor R. M. Algie; vicepresidents, Professor Bartrum, Mr. M. R. O’Shea; club captain, Mr. L. E. Brooker; secretary, Mr. W. M. Milliken; treasurer, Mr. D. O’Halloran; auditor, Mr. Irving; senior selector, Mr. L. R. B. Hardy; junior selectors. Messrs. C. T. Keegan, M. Cashmore, A. Craig; delegates to the A.R.U., Messrs. C. T. Keegan, A. Gray. A. A. Lucas: delegate to the N.Z.U.F.C. Mr. Pope; delegate to the Junior Management Board, Mr. A. Craig; committee, Messrs. A. A. Bodley, N. Cashmore, J. I. Dodd, R. Harrop, R. Hosking, A. Keene and D. McKay. In pursuance of a notice of motion given by the chairman of the executive committee, Mr. L. E. Brooker, a new set of rules for the constitution and government of the club was submitted for the consideration of the meeting. Vigorous opposition was offered to some of the proposed changes, but with the exception of a minor amendment the new rules as read were adopted by the meeting. MATAMATA RUGBY From Our Own Correspondent MATAMATA, Today. Tlio annual meeting of the Matamata Rugby Club was held on Thursday evening, Mr. J. P. White presiding. Mr. White congratulated the senior team on winning the Barry and Concrete Cups and the balance sheet showed a credit of £6 17s 6d. Officers elected were; President, Mr. J. P. White: vice-presidents, Messrs. C. E. Barry, W. Clover, VV. Egan, J. H. Hawes and D. Roigard; secretary and treasurer, Mr. tf. Sarah; selectors, senior, Mr. L. W. Mehrtens; junior, Mr. H. Jones; third grade, Mr. I J . Laurie, senr.; Management Committee, Messrs. D. Ensor, W. Clover, F. Hitchcock. S. Ellery and D. Roigard; delegates to Rugby Union. Messrs. D. Roigard, L. W. Mehrtens and S. Sarah. New members, Messrs. Carlspn, Davey, Gardiner, Hodge, Palmer and Short. Practices are to commence -on March SP. TE PUNINGA RUGBY From Our Own Correspondent MORRINSVILLE, Today. The annual meeting of the Te ; Puninga Football Club was held on j Wednesday evening. A credit balance |of £6 19s lOd was shown. The following officers were elected: Patron, i Mr. P. H. Saxton; president, Mr. T. : Roach; secretary and treasurer, Mr | N. H. Watson; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Patterson, D. F. Watson. D. J. Wright, E. C. Old and W. J. Dakers; committee. Messrs. H. Skiffington, I Wells and T Lynch. Mr. H. Skiffington was appointed coach and also ! delegate to the Morrinsville Rugby j Union. 1 Messrs. Colson and Shirley, reprej senting the Tatuanui Club, waited on j the meeting with a proposal that the j Te Puninga Club should become affili- | ated to the Tatuanui Club to the extent of allowing Tatuanui to fill up vacancies in its senior team with T*» Puninga juniors. This was finally agreed to. A practice was arranged for March 29.
