DR. BUCKLEY TURKINGTON VISITS PAPAKURA Dr. Buckley Turkington visited Papakura on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the Obstetrical Endowment Fund. The meeting was held in the Alethodist llall and was presided over by Dr. W. G. Bridgman. It was decided ; to form a branch in Papakura, and that Drury, Hunui. Karaka and Takanini be included. Airs. T. Clements has been most zealous in arranging meetings at various homes of those interested. Aleetings have been held at the residences of Alesdames J. S. Currie, T. Clements, G. W. Venables, Reid and K. B. Todd. The full complement of those invited has attended in each instance. Airs Maguire will give an address in Kingslord Hall, Otahuliu, on Sunday afternoon. Al EE TING AT PAPATOETOE A largely attended meeting was held in St. John’s Sunday School Hall, Station lload, Papatoetoe, tills week, when Mrs. C. l. Maguire delivered a very interesting address on the aims and objects of the chair of obstetrics, which is to be instituted at the Otago University. Airs. Alaguire said the one mistake in the medical annals of New Zealand was in connection with the welfare of the mothers. The work had been commenced at the wrong end of the stick, and the first slogau should be “Save the Alothers.” it was not until recently that this phase of the matter had been taken in hand, and the people of Papatoetoe were to be asked to join forces with the rest of the Dominion to help this worthy cause. Lady Carrick Robertson accompanied Airs. Maguire. At the conclusion of the address Airs. A. B. Jameson thanked the speaker for her address, after which it was decided to form a branch at Papatoetoe.
