NEW REGENT

“DEVIL MAY CARE” Another most enjoyable talkie programme will be submitted for the entertainment of Aucklanders at the New Regent Theatre from this evening. The chief attraction will be the first all-talking production to be made by Ramon Novarro, and is entitled “Devil May Care,” a dashing story of the Napoleonic era. After hearing

Ra. mo n N o va r r o, “the star with the golden voice,” in "The Pagan,” and listening to his romantic singing of “The Pagan Love Song,” all audiences are looking forward expectantly to the alltalking debut of this handsome star, whose “Ben-Hur" fame lives for ever in the world's

memory. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has chosen “Devil May Care” for his first all-talk-ing vehicle. This story is eminently suited to his lovable, boyish personality, and he will find ample opportunity to again sing to the world heartwinning songs of love that more than ever endear him to all. Many of the scenes in “Devil May Care” are in technicolour and a male chorus of over 200 sings the lilting musical numbers. A splendid supporting programme of special!}' selected talking and singing featurettes will also be presented from this evening. The items will include a. merry talking comedy by the famous pair, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, entitled “Night Owls.” selections by George Lyons, known as “The Singing Harpist,” and an interesting novelty item introducing “Carl Emmy’s Pets.”
