From Our Own Correspondent ROTORUA, Thursday. Six lawns were occupied at the social afternoon of the Rotorua Croquet Club, progressive croquet being played. Mrs. J. Halkett (president) presented the trophies won during the afternoon tea adjournment as follow:—A grade: Mrs. J. J. Hogan, 1: Mrs. Hook, 2. B grade: Airs. Butler, 1; Airs. Heley, 2. ! Break croquet was played in the B j grade for a prettily designed challenge | brooch given by Airs. Newson. Aliss | Lewis was successful in the first chal- i ■ lenge. * * * The Wednesday pairs handicap of i the Rotorua Bowling Club was continued in glorious weather. Results: Harris, A. French (2), 30, v. G. French, Miller (4), 28; White. Aitken (8), 23, v. Stonehouse, Kelly (1), 25; Halkett, Alerriman (2), 28, v. Wallis, Downer j (5), 13; Lazenby, Richards (scr), 27, v. ! Hodgson. Two new football teams have ap- j plied for registration in tlie Rotorua ! Rugby Union, and there is a possi- i bility of a third from the P.W.D. The Takapuna Grammar first and second elevens are playing similar grades at the Rotorua High School today. At the lunch adjournment Rotorua firsts were 104 for eight wickets and Takapuna seconds 233 for eight wickets. The visitors are being billeted with the local boys. The Geyser cricket team hopelessly outclassed United in a competition match on Wednesday, scoring 209 against 6 ,;
