LOCAL FRUIT PLENTIFUL PEAR DEMAND IMPROVED New Zealand fruits are plentifully stipplied in the Ci ty Markets at the moment, and in some cases prices have eased under weight of A g 9 ood deal of inferior pear lines have been forwarded, and in today’s sales an improved inquiry was noted for good samples. Scarcely any improvement has yet taken place for apples. Supplies are plentiful and chief attention is centred on the better offerings. Outdoor grapes have increased in quantity. Prices are correspondingly lower. Shorter supplies are apparent, however, in tomato and lemon stocks. An improvement has taken place for tomatoes and lemons are commanding high prices. Passionfruit and cape gooseberries
are plentiful. All vegetables in season are well stocked with a fair inquiry. Supplies of poultry were heavy at today’s sales. Cockerels maintained their values and heavy hens increased in price. A heavy penning of pullets and light-breed birds and ducks sold well.
