WHO PAYS?
SCHOOL TEACHER CALLING IN DOCTOR LEGAL OPINION SOUGHT A vain appeal to higher authorities has been made by the Auckland Priinry School Committees’ Association, to obtain a ruling on the question of fixing the responsibility for payment, of the doctor’s fee when medical assistance is called by a school teacher in a case of emergency. The association passed its problem on to the Auckland Education Board, which appealed to the Education Department. At last evening’s meeting of the association the department’s reply to the question was received through the Education Board. The department was unable t > give a ruling, and knew of no case where parents had refused to pay in such circumstances. Every case would have to be considered in all its legal aspects. The acting-chairman of the association, Mr. Q. E. Spooner, said he understood the Education Board was obtaining a legal opinion on the question. A copy of the. correspondence will be sent to the Te Kuiti school committee. which first asked for a solution of the knotty problem.
