SUCCESSFUL FETE

MISSIONARY FUNDS WILL BENEFIT MT. WELLINGTON FUNCTION The gardens of Mrs. Thompson, Mount Wellington, were the scene of a very enjoyable garden fete last Saturday afternoon and evening. Organised by the members of the St. Matthias Ladies’ Guild, the proceeds, amounting to approximately £2O, are to be devoted to the church missionary funds. Various competitions kept young and old amused. The younger folk, taking advantage of the music supplied, danced on the well-lit lawns. Placed under the shade of the trees on the lawn were a number of tents, accommodating the various stalls, which were well patronised. The stallholders were:—Fancy work stall, Mesdames Howell and Durbridge; sweet stall, Mesdames Gatword and Bull; soft drink stall, Mesdames Vanse and Freeman; produce stall, Messrs. Allen and Keyes; tearooms, Mesdames Booth, Jacques and Allen.
