FIREMAN ON SOUTHERN CROSS The first death In 20 years among the native crew of the Melanesian Mission steamer Southern Cross occurred this morning when Bobby Iveu died in hospital. He was admitted to the institution last Monday, suffering from pleurisy. Ive-i was about 35 years old and a native of the Reef Islands, in the Santa Cruz group, and had been a fireman on the vessel for the past two years. He had seemed perfectly Jiealtay until he caught a chill a short time ago. He was a cheerful and good worker. Another .case off the same vessel at present being treated in the hospital is that of another native boy, Roscoe, who is in a critical condition with pneumonia.
