MR. V. DUNNE LEAVING AUCKLAND WRESTLSNG REFEREE * With the transfer of Mr. V. Dunne to VAellingiton, Auckland will lose a keren supporter of all sporting activities. Air. A". Dunne, who is mail-room supervisor at Lho chief post office, Auckland, has received notice of his promotion to tlao position of superintendent of mails at AVellington. lie will take over lais new position at the end of the moi-ath. Dunne w-.s transferred from, Auckland to Welling- * ton in a military capacity, taking up the position of staff officer to the Director of Post and Telegraph Services, and controlling the Post and Telegraph Engineers, which have sin'merged into the Territorial SignallinCorps. From *AWllington, he was transferred to (Si ristchurch in ch.tra of the parcels branch, being promoted to Auckland about eight years ago. ENTHUSIASTIC ROWER As a sportsmasn he is well-knowr having been connected with various •sporting bodies f6r a number of year in an active capacity. He has always been an enthusiastic rower, joining t c St. George’s Rowing Club, of Auckland, in 1902, on his return from South Africa. In this club ifce has occupied t; positions of deputy-captain, ;r* and captain, his keen work on th*.club’s behalf being marked -. hen : .c was made a lifle-membcr. AA’hile in A\’elliug;on he was secret I of the Dominion Rifle Club for some ! years and went 3.0 Australia in 1 92 * in command of team which d ! for the Empire Cfcp at Melbourne. Dlunne has filled the : position of honorary referee for t v New Zealand “Wrestling Association and has refereed practically all the big matches satisfactorily. Apart from his interest in sport.
