TOWN PLANNING WORK
ASSOCIATION’S POSITION Whether the Auckland Town Planning Association should link up with i the Comparatively newly-formed Town j Planning Institute, or continue to func- ! tion on the lines originally laid down, | was considered by a small meeting of the association last evening. The president. Mr. AY. J. Holdsworth, suggested it would be more difficult to gain public, interest and support for the association’s work if it submerged its identity by joining up with the new organisation. He pointed out that the City Council already had its own townplanning committee and shortly regional committees would be set up. If the association became a branch of the institute, he said, it would speak as a branch of a Dominion body. After briefly discussing the proposal, ~ the association deferred consideration until more information could be obtaining from the Director of Town Planning on his next visit to Auckland. A plan for new traffic outlets from the City, forwarded by Miss Alice Hasten, was referred to the technical group for consideration and report.
