STOCK DESTROYED
FIRE AT WAIUKU From Our Own Correspondent WAIUKU, Tuesday. A fire broke out between 6.30 o’clock and 7 o’clock this evening in Fisher’s mercery shop at the corner of Bowen and Queen Streets. The outbreak was noticed by t\yo young boys, who quickly raised the alarm, and a bucket brigade and a patent fire extinguisher helped to retard the fire during the few minutes that the volunteer fire brigade were Setting into action. A lead was soon playing water and the fire was extinguished, but not before a considerable amount of damage had been done to stock. Fortunately the fire was prevented from catching the building, which is an old two-storey structure owned by Mr. S. T. Rossiter. of Auckland. The stock is covered in Lloyd's Insurance Company.
