From Our Otvn Correspondent DARGAVILLE. Tuesday. Mr. Iv. S. Williams. M.P. for Bay of Plenty, was a visitor to Dargaville yesterday. He left this morning for Pahia Bay and Russell, via the Waipoua forest. * * * Mrs. Alan Mulgan, of Auckland, who is organising on behalf of the movement now in progress throughout the Dominion to raise the sum of £25,000 for a Chair of Obstetrics at the Otago Universitv, visited Dargaville yester- ; day. Mrs. Mulgan spent the short time at her disposal in this district in endeavouring to work up some enthusiasm on the matter by interviewing several ladies interested in women's ! welfare. Her hopes are that a move will lie made shortly to devise ways I and means of raising this district's ciuotu. * * * i Pro. .T. Fannon has been elected president of the Northern Wairoa S Confer %ice for the ensuing term. Officers of the Sacred Heart branch of the H.A.C.B.S. have been elected for the ensuing term as' follow: President, Bro. R. Lunny; 1.P.P., Bro. C Bennett: V.P., Bro. G. Stanaway; warden, Bro. R. Jones; guardian. Bro. .r Stanaway, junr.; secretary, Bro. A. ’/ Martin: assists Jit- secretary, Bro. D. Martin; treasurer, Bro. D. Stanaway; ehapla in, Rev. Father W. Van Westeinade. Mr. Maurice Vancam, who is walking around the world tor n wager of L 7 000 is at present in this district. Mr’ Vancam left Vancouver, 8.C.. in 10-/5 an a expects to complete his tour February next. He leaves for I Wlmngarei tomorrow and will continue ! South. Air. T. Tv. Overtoil was appointed i resident engineer to the Hobson Elec-tric-Power n.'urd at todays meeting.
