Mr. and Mrs. F. Mourin, of London, returned to Auckland this morning on the Tofua after a tour of the Islands. Mr. F. W. Luxford, brother of the Chief Justice of Samoa, returned to Auckland this morning on the Tofua. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Industries and Commerce, and Mrs. Cohbe, are staying at the Star Hotel. Mr. R. A. McMillan, manager of Meggitt, Ltd., Melbourne, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Ulimaroa. Mr. T. G. Knox, of the staff of the Colonial Sugar Company, Fiji, arrived in Auckland this morning by the Tofua on holiday. Mr. W. R. Kldridge, of the AngloAmerican Optical Company, Londoji, reached Auckland this morning on the Ulimaroa. Mr. John Crawford of the Sydney “Sun” staff, and his wife and daughter are at present visiting Auckland. They arrived this morning on the Ulimaroa. Dr. G. B. Campbell, who has spent the past four months in Samoa., returned to Auckland on the Tofua which arrived this morning. Mr. J. C. Graham, of Mount ISden, has been awarded the Lissie Rathbone Entrance Scholarship of the Auckland University College. Mr. S. McCall-McCowan, of Edinburgh. and Mr. R. E. Fisher, of London. were among the passengers who reached Auckland this morning by the Ulimaroa from Sydney. Sir Jehangir Kotliari, of Karachi, India, who is spending a holiday in Mew Zealand, arrived in Auckland yesterday, and is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. W. A. Gilbert arrived in Auckland this morning by the Ulimaroa. He has come from England to join the firm of H. R. Marler and Company, Ltd., in Auckland. Mr. H. Gapes, of the Audit Department, Apia, Samoa, reached Auckland this morning by the Tofua. He is accompanied by his wife and family and will spend a holiday here. Mr. W. J. Harper, a coconut planter from Taviuni, Fiji, was a passenger this morning on the Tofua. lie stated that one-third of the crop has been ruined by the hurricane. Mr. Harper has been in Fiji since 1896. Mr. William Simpkin, managing director of the Northern Wairoa Cooperative Dairy Co., Ltd., will leave in May on an extended trip to Great Drfitain.
