An unusual plot has been worked out in “Painted Faces,’’ which is now being: shown at the Empress Theatre, Newton. The story deals with a murderer who finds an innocent boy accused of the crime he himself committed in a transport of anger. Determined to save the boy, he gets himself appointed a member of the jury which judges the case, and succeeds in persuading his fellow jurymen to bring in a verdict of “not guilty.” Joe Brown, Helen Foster, Dorothy Gulliver and Barton Hepburn have the leading roles. “Roadhouse Nights” has been selected as the final title for Paramount’s new all-talking picture, featuring Charles Ruggles and, Helen. Morgan.
