ROXY
“PEACOCK ALLEY” TOMORROW This evening sees the final presentation at the Roxy Theatre of the current programme, which includes “His Glorious Night,” a tale of romance and intrigue in Vienna, and John Gilbert’s first talkie, also a number of shorter talkie items. The vivacious Mae Murray has the leading role in “Peacock Alley.” which heads the Roxy’s new programme tomorrow. Of outstanding interest are the gorgeous costumes and fashion plate displays presented in the film, which is. a story of American society life. Several scenes have been produced in colour. Miss Murray’s voice is heard to advantage, while she is seen in some clever dances. A variety of shorter talkie films will complete the programme. “How did they happen to pick you out for the part?” someone asked Donald Ogden Stewart, who came back to Hollywood to make his debut as a talkie actor in “Not So Dumb.” “Well the chap I play is crazy,” he said. “I was just the type.”
