NATIONAL CONCERT
A grand national concert in connecturn with the St. Patrick Dav celebrations was held at the Town Hall last evening:. A largo audience attended. A wide and varied programme was provided and many artists of note participated. One of the foremost attractions of the evening was the massed singing of the children of the combined schools under the directorship of the Rev. Brother Henrick. The programme opened with the children singing “Hail, Glorious St. Patrick.” followed by --Here’s a Toast to Erin.” Irish songs predominated and many old favourites, including ‘‘Kathleen Mavourneen” and ‘‘Dear Little Shamrock” were given. The Clarion Quartet, Including Misses Alma McGruer and Beryl Smith and Messrs. James Simpson and Duncan Black, sang many songs that were greatly appreciated. The eccentric humour of Mr. Dan Flood provided much amusement. The concert was conducted under the auspices of the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Committee, and the proceeds wil be donated to the funds of the Catholic orphanages.
