AUSTRALIANS RETURN
TENNIS MATCH AT HAMILTON TOMORROW AUCKLAND TOURNEY LATER For the extra special invitat on tournament arranged by the Auck land Lawn Tennis Association, the Australian tennis team returned to Auckland from the South on Sat urday evening. The Australians spent yesterday 1 tlobsonville. the guests of Mr. Tom Clark, and this morning were taken on a launch trip down the harbour l»> the Auckland Harbour Board. This afternoon the members of th-"' team played a series of exhibitio n matches at the Epsom Girl’s Gramma 1 S Cuthberts College. where further matches were played u r the bt-ner * of the college pupils. The girls of the Diocesan College were also present. Tomorrow morning the team leavefor Hamilton by private car. and at ' a.m. will commence a match against the Waikato representatives. Returning the same evening, the Australians will be the guests of the Taka puna Tennis Club on Wednesday morning and in the afternoon thev will play a further exhibition match for the benefit of the pupils of the Takapuna Grammar School ard t.iTakapuna Public School. Hal: days have been granted the scholars cf both schools. The Auckland Lawn Tennis Association’s invitation championship t*»urna ment will be played on Thursday. Ft : day and Saturday at the Stanley* street courts. There was an attendance »»i 2.300 at the test match played at Christchurch recently and the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association haevery hope of beating that figure if tin weather remains fine for the toume> The Australians are far and awa> the best players who have been sec* in action in Auckland for some time, and higli-class tennis can be expected to result when they are engaged again this week.
