ST. PATRICK’S EVENTS AT DOMAIN MANY CONTESTS STAGED Exciting cycling events and keen whippet racing were interesting contests at the annual St. Patrick’s Day sports on the Domain on Saturday afternoon. Upward of 10,000 people saw such prominent cyclists as A. Mackie, H. R. Dwight. J. R. Whitten, W. Casey. L. B. Roberts and L. Dwight in action. An especially well-contested event was tho three-mile invitation scratch race. In the morning, junior children's sports events had been mainly conducted, and in the afternoon excellent relay races were staged. There were also displays of national dancing, the quadrille, and the maypole contests. Processions were also held. A team representing the police successfully accounted for several sturdy sides to win the tug-of-war contestOne of the most entertaining displays was by boys of St. Stephen’s Maori College, who, in addition to several stirring liakas, sang a Samoan hymn and went through the siva action—peculiar to Samoa. They were directed by Mr. Patrick Smyth. The Ponsonby Boys’ Brass Band, under Mr. S.
