NO RIGHT ON ROAD
RACE TRACK ONLY PLACE SAYS MAGISTRATE RACING MOTORIST FINED From Our Oic>» Correspondent OTAHUHU, Today. For driving a motor-car in h manpublic: operating such vehicle in a manner causing undue noise, and not having the car equipped with proper brakes. Cecil Sutherland was lined a total ot £3 and ordered to pay £.' 1 10s costs, by Mr. F. H. I.evien, tv\l.. at the Otahuhu Court this morning. Inspector Barrett said the car was a conglomeration ot several cars and has an airplane engine capable of doing high speed. He tried to follow defendant. but was lost. The brakes on the roar wheels act independently and defendant has a roll of wire-net-ting stuffed in the exhaust-pipe to muffle the sound, but this is not effective. Defendant said ho built the car himself. He admitted it makes a fair amount of noise, but was not as fast as the inspector said. In giving judgment, the magistrate said defendant should not decry his own racing-car. It had no right on the road under any circumstances the only place for such a car was on a racing track.
