CHINESE HIT BY TRAIN The death of the Chinese marketgardener, Chung Doo, who was seri°usly injured through being struck by the Daylight Limited express when crossing the railway line at the Otahuhu station shortly after eight o’clock on Saturday morning, occurred at the Auckland Hospital early yesterday morning. | Chung Doo had just arrived at the ; station with his lorry. He started to I cross the line with a sack of peas on | his shoulder as the train approached j the station. An unusually long blast was given by the express when about 130 yards from the signal box, attractj ing the attention of those near the ' station. The Chinese was struck by i the engine, carried several yards and | then thrown aside. The sack of peas first took the force of the impact; otherwise it is considered that the j Chinese would have been killed outright. After receiving medical attention the I injured man was removed to the lios- | pitul by the ambulance.
