MUNICIPAL MUSIC

BAND CONCERTS AT ZOO AND TOWN HALL ORGAN RECITAL Another entertaining programme Of music was given by the Municipal Band at Zoological Park yesterday. The items were of a varied nature and were well received by the usual large attendance. Notable numbers were Cnennett fa “The Northern World.” Bishop’s “Chough and Crow,” anti 1 homes “Simple Aveu." To mark the nearness of St. Patrick’s Day the band also gave “Reminiscences of Ireland’ and •‘The Shamrock,” both being verv well played- _ In the evening another very fine pro- ' gramme was given in the Town Kail. Particularly enjoyable were Handel s “The Harmonious Blacksmith an „ i Freidmann’s “Slavonic Rhapsody. Other items were Ord Hume s “Dawn uf Peace” and Ketelbey’s “Tangled Tunes.'’ A cornet duet. “Friendly Rivals,” was played by two band members. and solos were also contributed by Mr. F. Bowes and Mr. J. Davies. A very enjoyable organ recital was given by Mr. Maughan Barnett, City Organist, at the Town Hall yesterday afternoon. The programme, both attractive and varied, was well received. Bach’s “Chorale Preludes” proved an interesting feature of the programme. Other enjoyable items were Hollins’s “Intermezzo.” Goldmark’s “In the Garden,” Gigout’s “Toccato, Guiimant’s “Sonata, No. 4.” and Devon--1 shire folk songs arranged for organ and bells.
