CRUMP’S HARBOUR SWIM

YOUNG NORTH SHORE GIRL SECOND The harbour race for the Morgan Cup under the North Shore Amateur Swimming Club was held on Saturday afternoon on a course from the Torpedo Wharf, round Sandspit Beacon to the Devonport ferry wharf, about li miles. Weather conditions were ideal with absolutely calm water and a flooding tide. There were 30 nominees and 15 faced the starter. The club had made adequate arrangements with launches end dinghies. The starter was Mr. George Whitley and the judges were Mr. George Whitley and Mr. J. lane. Results were (handicaps being in parentheses):— N\ Crump (8m), 24m 50s, 1; Miss M. El worth (llm 3(>s>, 24m 50s, 2: T. Lowe (7m). 26m 40s, 3, J. Curtayne (75m), 27m ?ss. 4. Also finished in the following order: — C. Anderson (sm), S. Bacon (6m), 11. Homiston (7.1 m), J. I). Foster, I’onsonby (10m), P. Wells (6m). R. Blakewell USm), K. V. Cunnold, Waitemata (2£m), Smith, Mount Kden (14m), C Hearne dm), R. Ashby, Waitemata (lm), A Gunn <«m). Crump is under 14 years of age, and ■ V;) ‘B last year’s North Shore public schools champion, and is this year’s Takapuna Grammar School junior champion. Mi** El worth was last years junior Dominion champion. This was the nrs>t annual harbour swim organised by tne North Shore Club.
