DETERMINED SUICIDE

TIED BAG OF SAND TO NECK JUMPED INTO RIVER From Our Own Correspondent KAITAIA, Today. Francis William Jameson, a farmer, of Kaitaia, committed a determined suicide last Thursday night by . jumping into the Awamii River with a bag of sand tied around his neck. His horse, left tied to a post on the river bank led to investigations and his body was recovered on Saturday. At an inquest held this morning evidence was given that although he had shown no signs of depression, lie had had financial worries and had suffered as a result of war injuries. His body had been recovered from the river with a bag of sand tied around his neck. A verdict of suicide by drowning, while of unsound mind, was returned.
