POSITION IN SAMOA
MR. JORDAN’S VIEWS From Our Own Correspondent DARGAVILLE, Friday. Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau, delivered a political address in Dargaville last evening to a large audience. Mr. S. L. Spanhake, deputy-Mayor, occupied the chair in the absence from the district of the Mayor. Mr. Jordan dealt with a number of matters from the Labour Party’s viewpoint. Replying to a question regarding the state of affairs In Samoa, the speaker said that it seemed that Samoa had been poorly handled for a long time.- He did not actually blame New Zealand for the state of affairs, but he believed that there had been grave indiscretions committed. Mr. Jordan said that the Samoan people should have representation in the Legislature and he considered that by application of ordinary justice greater progress would be made than by the employment of the iron heel.
