CHURCHES CONFUSED
REV. D. C. HERRON MAKES POSITION CLEAR AN UNOFFICIAL CALL Some confusion seems to exist regarding tbe reported call of the Rev. D. C. Herron, St. David’s Church, Auckland, to the Ministry of First Church, Dunedin. Mr. Herron, who has been attending the Presbyterian Assembly in Dunedin, returned to Auckland this morning. He stated that on his arrival here he found a telegram waiting for him intimating that he had received a call .to the ministry of Knox Church. Nothing further will be done by Mr. Herron until he receives the official call by letter. There is a possibility that he will accept the call. Three or four months ago Mr. Herron had the opportunity of going to First Church, but after due consideration he declined the offer. While he was attending the General Assembly in Dunedin, Mr. Herron preached in Knox Church, which has a very large congregation.
Yesterday’s message from Dunedin had evidently confused the two churches. The pulpits of First Church and Knox Church are both vacant at the present time.
