GIFTS FLOW IN
ADDITIONS TO MUSEUM EXHIBITS MANY FINE SPECIMENS Wide interest in the Auckland War Memorial Museum is evidenced by the steady stream of gifts that reaches the institution. Since the last Council meeting, * month ago, the following major gift* have been received, in addition to a number of minor donations:—Collection of Melanesian spears, from Mr. Harry Dutton; a beautiful decorated Dresden vase, from Miss Viola Moses; a silk tapestry picture, from Mrs. O. H. Ernest; a series of souvenirs, from H.M.S. Lion and H.M.S. Indefatigable, and a collection of national history and ethnographical specimens, given by Mrs. Tuke; two interesting fish specimens, from Captain H. M. Ryder; a curiosity in coal formation, from Newcastle, supplied by Mr. E. S. White;! specimens of tapa and Polynesian matting, from the Hon. W. H. Trigg: a collection of fishes from the Great Barrier, given by Mr. Harold Buddie; a series of rock samples from Mount Hoppur (Nelson), forwarded by Mrs. H. F. Chaltey; kauri gum specimens* from Mrs. H. A Raynes.
