OLD RULES AGAIN?
RUGBY IN WELLINGTON From Our Resident Reporter WELLINGTON. Today. Information in Wellington points to the distinct possibility of the New Zealand Rugby Union reverting to the old rules for all matches during the season to commence next month. Reports from Southern unions indicate that there is a strong body of opinion in favour of this course, in view* of the fact that later in the year New Zealand teams will be opposing British players under the old rules, and that many New Zealanders who will be called upon by their provinces have never had experience under anything but the new* dispensation. One official of the New Zealand Rugby Union states that information is to hand that Canterbury, Otago and Southland are all likely to favour this course. Even if the movement fails, there is a „ Possibility that team captains in Wellington will be asked to consider p.aying under the old rules, in w’hich case there is every likelihood that they will agree.
