“AN IDEAL BIRD”
IMPORTATION OF CHUKOR The importation of chukor to New Zealand was discussed at a meeting of the Auckland Acclimatisation Sociev last evening. The bird, which came from India, was of a particularly hardy species, and capable of surviving in the most barren country. It is larger than the pheasant, yet lives on a starvation diet. In India it had held its own against innumerable pests and its hardiness made it easy to transport. Mr. F. E. McKenzie was authorised to order up to 200.
