FINED FOR TEMPER
YOUTH’S SHARP LESSON

A youth, Bert Thomas Reynolds, was fined £2 and costs by Mr. R. M Watson. S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court this morning, for throwing a piece of fencing wire across the high tension electric wires at Matapuna. Sergeant Sivyer prosecuted, and said that the action could have caused very considerable damage to the borough power system, and possibly loss of life. The case was brought with a view to giving, the matter publicity, and a heavy penalty was not asked for. Defendant said he tripped on the wire while crossing a paddock, and in a fit of temper threw it away. It fell across the eleptric wires.
“It was a silly and dangerous thing j to do, and you should have reported the matter,’’ said Mr. Watson, imposI ing the fine.
